Tips for Improving Bicycling Skills

Currently, Kathryn Meola is the chief deputy county counsel at San Mateo County Counsel’s Office and a member of various professional organizations such as the State Bar of California. During her leisure time, she likes bike riding.
Bicycling is an activity that serves as an ideal workout routine to boost heart and circulatory-system health. To enjoy cycling, it’s vital to research and invest in a bike that meets personal needs and preferences. Acquiring a good saddle also significantly enhances the experience. The best ones are firmer and have a narrow design to ensure the rider remains comfortable.
Moreover, proper posture while bicycling is key for good performance. For instance, refrain from hunching shoulders, which can cause muscle soreness and fatigue. It’s also advisable to tilt the head every few minutes or stop briefly to release tight muscles.
Beginners should start gradually in order to adjust to the physical exertion, increase the intensity of riding, and become familiar with various terrains. Practicing in a group also promotes the self-confidence and motivation necessary to refine cycling skills. Biking routes should also be strategically selected, and novices should avoid tough terrains in the first few weeks of bike riding.
